Solar lentigo is a flat, smooth pigmented lesion, while seborrheic keratosis is slightly raised with a rough texture. Seborrheic keratosis involves epidermal overgrowth and is removed by shaving like a mole, whereas solar lentigo is treated by targeting the pigment with laser.
If mole cells are completely removed, they will not recur in the same spot. However, deep-rooted moles may require 2-3 sessions for complete removal. Treating in multiple sessions is safer as going too deep at once can cause scarring.
Seborrheic keratosis rarely leaves indented scars as it does not invade the dermis. Moles also have low scarring risk with precise laser control. However, redness may persist for 2-3 months post-treatment, and diligent sun protection during this period is essential to prevent hyperpigmentation.
